Lewis-Francis will have to work hard to back up his boast |
Mark Lewis-Francis says he does not fear missing August's World Championships. The 100m sprinter faces fierce competition for one of the places at next week's Norwich Union Trials in Birmingham
European champion Dwain Chambers, European Indoor champion Jason Gardener and Olympic medallist Darren Campbell will all be in the hunt for one of those spots.
Only the top two at the Trials are guaranteed a place at the Worlds, but Lewis-Francis says he has no doubts about his ability to make the team that travels to the French capital.
"Am I worried about missing out on the British team? Tell me how that is going to happen?" said Lewis-Francis.
"Everybody knows that I am a different athlete when it comes to a championship format. I am far better when I run rounds as it allows me to build my focus towards the final."
Lewis-Francis will have to run three races in order to defend his AAA title at the Trials.
The heats, semi-finals and final of the men's 100m all take place on 26 July.
