Competitors must complete 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours
The six British athletes competing in the Flora 1,000 Mile Challenge have passed the 100 mile mark.

The gruelling six-week event, which requires competitors to complete 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours, began on Sunday 2 March in London.

One moment of controversy has already affected the chances of David Lake, who had been receiving help from a team of local soldiers who were providing him with physio treatment and meals.

But race officials decided that this extra support was against the rules and should be discontinued.

The six challengers comprise four men and two women: Rory Coleman, David Lake, Paul Selby, Lloyd Scott, Sharon Gayter and Shona Crombie-Hicks.

The athletes will cover the London Marathon course 38 times by 13 April, before running the Flora London Marathon to decide the overall champion.
