Northern Ireland archer Mark Nesbitt finished sixth in the European Senior Championships in Italy on Thursday.

He defeated European champions on the way to the quarter-finals where he lost out to an Italian archer in a sudden death shoot-off.

Nesbitt finished just one place behind the current Olympic gold medallist, who was fifth.

This was Mark's first-ever senior event and he is still eligible to compete at junior level.
