Great Britain's women won the bronze medal in the team event at archery's European Grand Prix in Sofia. Charlotte Burgess, Emma Downie and Amy Oliver took third place after defeating Italy in the bronze medal shoot-off. Earlier, they had defeated Spain in the quarter-finals before losing to eventual silver medalists Russia in the semi-finals, with Poland winning gold. The men's trio of Alan Wills, Mark Nesbitt and Michael Peart were beaten by Malaysia in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Hilda Gibson has been appointed team manager of the English archery squad for next year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Gibson held the same role for the Great Britain squad at last year's Beijing Olympics.
