Teenage sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey has been named 2005 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. The award caps an amazing year for the 17-year-old athlete, who won both the 100m and 200m at the World Youth Championships in Marrakech.
The Sutton runner has already picked up the Rising Star Award from the sport's governing body, the IAAF.
"I'd just like to thank everyone who has helped me. Hopefully there is more to come," he said.
Previous winners of the BBC honour include footballer Wayne Rooney and tennis star Andrew Murray.
Aikines-Aryeetey was the first athlete in the six-year history of the World Youth Championships to claim the sprint double.
To win the BBC prize, he beat off stiff competition from Southampton striker Theo Walcott and swimmer Francesca Halsall.
A shortlist of 10 was originally revealed on CBBC's Xchange programme.
