The deadline to send us your photos for our first ever BBC Sport photography competition has now passed.

We asked you to enter photos which best capture what sport is all about.

There are two age categories - over 16, and 16 and under.

Our judges will now select the best photos from each age category and display them in a picture gallery on the site.

You will then be able to vote to decide who wins the first BBC Sport Photographer and BBC Sport Young Photographer of the Year award.

The two winners will get the chance to spend time snapping at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon in the company of a professional sports photographer.
