Ducati axe Hislop
Newly-crowned British Superbike champion Steve Hislop
Hislop has been with Ducati for two years
Newly-crowned British Superbike champion Steve Hislop has been axed by his MonsterMob Ducati team just two weeks after claiming the title.

Hislop's contract expired at the end of the season and MonsterMob Ducati chief Paul Bird announced on Monday that he would not be offering the 40-year-old a new deal.

The MonsterMob Ducati team are in negotiations with three riders to replace the veteran Scot, who has been with the squad for two seasons.

Bird said: "Steve's contract was up and it was a very difficult decision as to whether to renew it or not, and the decision not to had not been taken lightly.

"Obviously Steve has been very instrumental in the team's success over the past couple of seasons.

"Whilst we're very grateful to him for that, it was the right time for us to go our separate ways and Steve and I have no animosity towards each other.

"We achieved our goals together and now it's right for us both to accept new challenges.

"We are in negotiation with three young riders, all of whom fit the bill perfectly."
