Davenport had envisaged waving goodbye to tennis |
Former world number one Lindsay Davenport will return to competitive tennis just a couple of months after giving birth to her first child. Davenport will team up with Lisa Raymond to play in the doubles at the Pilot Pen from 17-25 August.
The American gave birth to a boy called Jagger on 10 June.
"I am very excited to announce that I will return to professional tennis at the Pilot Pen in August," Davenport said in a statement.

She hasn't played since last September and said in December that she didn't expect to return to competition after the baby was born.
"I hate the word 'retirement,' but this season was such a struggle physically for me, and I can't imagine playing again," she said at the time.
