Gonzalez breezes through
Fernando Gonzalez
Gonzalez cruised to a straight sets victory in Madrid

Fernando Gonzalez lined up a meeting with Carlos Moya by beating Brazilian qualifier Andre Sa 6-3 6-2 in the first round of the Madrid Masters.

The exciting young Chilean took just 66 minutes to overcome Sa and set up a second round match with the eighth-seeded Spaniard.

Gonzalez maintained the good form that saw him win his second title of the year in Palermo last month.

"I felt great during that match," the 22-year-old Gonzalez said.

"My serve was very good and I was returning better than I had been.

"The game against Moya is going to be tough. He's one of the best players in the world now."

Meanwhile, fellow Chilean Marcelo Rios will face Roger Federer of Switzerland after beating Gaston Gaudio of Argentina 6-2 6-2.

Russia's Mikhail Youzhny defeated Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina by the same scoreline to line up a meeting with Andy Roddick.
