Scotland were unlucky to lose 3-2 against Spain in their Euro 2012 qualifier

Scotland recovered from two goals down to level with the world and European champions, Spain, but were caught out by a Fernando Llorente strike and lost 3-2.

Here, BBC Scotland pundits Billy Dodds, Gordon Smith and John Robertson give their analysis of the match at Hampden Park on a night when Scotland showed their character against, arguably, one of the best sides in the history of the game.

It could have been a huge bonus point, a point that we feel is maybe lost after the Czech Republic.

I know it's the world champions and we were 2-0 down, but it was two each with 15 minutes to go. But you can't fault the effort.

I think we've got decent players, and we have to believe in that.

These decent players, in certain situations, hurt the Spanish, who are the best players in the world. We need to not be too negative about systems and our players.

Compare tonight, in terms of the line-up and how we played - the amount of effort - compare that to the Czech Republic game on Friday night.

We were unlucky against Spain, but we pushed to get back in the game.

I don't think we had enough belief on Friday night, and we didn't set the team out with any belief. But it was a fantastic night.

I'm sure the crowd loved it.

They'll be disappointed - no doubt about it - you're on a downer when you lose.

We all want Scotland to do well.

But if you looked at the group in advance, you wouldn't have expected to beat Spain, although we came close.

Let's look forward and take the positives from the performance.

Hopefully, we can get some more players back fit for the next year's campaign and be ready - because we can't do anything about the past, but we can influence the future.

The next three games for Scotland are absolutely massive. It was night and day compared to Friday.

You've got to be optimistic. We were all doom and gloom after Friday.

Listen to the manager's voice after the game - he was much more upbeat and positive, and even though he was disappointed, he sounded encouraged.
