Evans will take Jamie Robinson's squad place at the Blues |
The Blues have recruited once-capped Wales centre Gavin Evans from regional rivals the Scarlets. Evans, 24, debuted for the Llanelli region in 2003 and has played 75 times for them, including 16 Heineken Cup games, notching up 11 tries. Evans was called up to the Welsh squad in autumn 2006, making his debut in the Test against the Pacific Islands. "He's a player of high quality, we hope we can help him fulfil his undoubted potential," said Blues coach Dai Young. | 606: DEBATE |
"Once Gavin had made the decision to leave the Scarlets to experience a different environment, we were obviously very pleased to hear he was interested in joining the Blues. "Although he is a young player he has gained a lot of experience during his career at the Scarlets. "He will be another great addition to our squad." The Blues already have Jamie Roberts, Tom Shanklin, Dafydd Hewitt and Gareth Thomas on the books at the Arms Park. But fellow centre Jamie Robinson will leave the Blues at the end of the season to join Toulon.
