Freddie Tuilagi joins the Blues on a one-year contract |
Samoan international Freddie Tuilagi has joined Cardiff Blues from Leicester Tigers on a one-year deal. The 33-year-old centre or wing will arrive at the Arms Park in July having played four seasons for the Tigers.
"We have been looking for a player who can make an impact on the game both offensively and defensively," Blues coach Dai Young said.
"His direct style and blistering pace will add yet another dimension to our exciting back line."
Tuilagi has won 16 caps for Samoa, scoring two tries, and has also played rugby league for English clubs Halifax and St Helens.
"Freddie is a player of vast experience given his achievements at both club and international level," Blues chief executive Robert Norster said.
"He is also an experienced rugby league professional and a clinical try-scorer in both codes, with a dynamic style that has delighted supporters throughout the rugby world.
"We also hope he will prove to be invaluable in helping to nuture our other young talent and will be a significant asset, especially given our likely international absentees throughout the domestic season."
