Sale Sharks have signed utility back Matty James.

The 23-year-old New Zealander played in this season's National One campaign for Cinderford, and had a spell for Welsh side Neath in 2009.

Sale Sharks head coach Mike Brewer said: "I'm very pleased that Matty is coming to the club.

"He's a lively threat from midfield or full-back, who runs hard and offloads well. When at fly-half, his hanging restart kicks will be a threat."

Chief executive Mick Hogan added: "I'm sure that Matty's all-action style and adventurous skills will quickly make him a favourite with the club's fans.

"He's the type of young, dynamic performer who can get you on the edge of your seat.

"We have more signings to announce this week, with news of off-field changes following in the near future."
