Hipkiss breaks through Sarries' defence to score the winning try |
Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom says it was vital they won a trophy this season after clinching the Premiership on Saturday. The Tigers sealed a last-minute 33-27 victory over Saracens to win the title, thanks to Dan Hipkiss's late try. Tom told BBC Radio Leicester: "There is a huge expectation to win trophies. "I think the fact that a lot of people said we'd only won three out of the last five or six, it was important to get that win." Sarries went ahead with just four minutes left, thanks to a Glen Jackson penalty before Hipkiss burst through to win the championship. Tom said: "It's in the Tigers' DNA that we're never beaten until the final whistle. "It was amazing - a great game of rugby for the neutrals but to come back at the end like that and win in the dying seconds was an incredible performance."
