Walker is not the first former League player to join Bath |
Chev Walker is itching to get his rugby union career under way after arriving at Bath following his cross-code switch from Super League side Leeds Rhinos. "This is more exciting for me than winning the Grand Final," said the 24-year-old former centre.
"I have always had this at the back of my mind, and the day has come when I've joined the club and I'm really excited.
"I am pretty confident in the reason why I came to Bath and what I have come here to achieve."
Walker did not sign off on the note he hoped for at Leeds, with the Rhinos losing to Warrington in the Super League play-offs.
But after agreeing his union switch, completed with the co-operation of the Rugby Football Union, in June, the Great Britain international now begins his union education admitting he has "tons" to learn.
"Rugby union is a completely new game to me," he added. "I have always been an admirer of it, but never had the chance to play it.
"I have watched a lot of games, but you are never going to get clued up by watching it.
"It is something I need to be practising - the coaching staff here are going to give me a lot of work to do, and I will be willing to do it."
