New Zealand fly-half Daniel Carter could be fit for the Grand Slam tour of Britain and Ireland next month after recovering from a broken leg.

Carter, who was one of the All Blacks stars against the Lions, has been named in the Canterbury squad to face Auckland in the NPC Championship.

The 23-year-old broke his leg seven weeks ago playing against Australia.

Earlier this week he said: "I'm fit and will make myself available this weekend. I'm keen to play some footy."

Carter scored 33 points in New Zealand's 48-18 demolition of the Lions in the second Test in Wellington in July.

The All Blacks won the three-Test series 3-0.

New Zealand play Wales in Cardiff on 5 November, Ireland in Dublin on 12 November, England at Twickenham on 19 November and Scotland in Edinburgh on 26 November.
