O'Loughlin inherited the Wigan captaincy from Andy Farrell |
Wigan captain Sean O'Loughlin has ended speculation linking him with a move to Australia by signing a new two-year deal with the Warriors. O'Loughlin, currently part of Great Britain's Tri-Nations campaign, was out of contract at the end of the month.
He rejected an offer to join new Australian club Gold Coast Titans for 2007, committing himself instead to Wigan until the end of the 2008 season.
O'Loughlin's decision follows Gareth Hock signing a new deal last week.
"Re-signing Sean is in keeping with our policy of trying to build up a nucleus of players who will stay together for a number of years," said chairman Maurice Lindsay.
"We want to build a side that can deliver consistency for a number of years.
"Sean's contract extension follows on from Gareth Hock and and we expect to extend the contracts of all our young players."
Wigan-born O'Loughlin, the brother-in-law of Andy Farrell, will celebrate his 24th birthday on the eve of the Tri-Nations final in Sydney next week.
