Warrington's Atkins says England will prove quality

Warrington centre Ryan Atkins says England will use the upcoming Four Nations to prove there is as much quality in Super League as in the NRL.

England face Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in the tournament.

The 24-year-old told BBC Radio Merseyside: "They say their type of rugby league is better than ours and we're there to prove that's not true.

"They've got great players out there, but so have we. So it's about time we set the record straight."

Atkins has just three caps for England and also included in the squad for the tournament in October and November are several uncapped players.

"We're all unknowns to them, and as long as we do our job and play well like we have been doing week in week out in Super League, then then it shouldn't matter that we haven't played much for our country," he said.

"We've got the experience in the squad with the likes of Adrian Morley but we'd like to think we bring a lot of enthusiasm too.

"We're going to be playing with great players and we're going to go over there and play against players we'd look up to as well."

England face the New Zealand Maori in Auckland on 16 October before the Tests against New Zealand (Saturday, 23 October), Australia (Sunday, 31 October) and Papua New Guinea (Saturday, 6 November).
