Ellis has attracted interest from several clubs |
Bradford Bulls have made a players-plus-cash bid for Wakefield skipper Gareth Ellis, according to reports. Bradford have allegedly offered Jamie Langley and Stuart Reardon and a cash adjustment to lure Ellis to Odsal.
However, Wakefield chief executive Diane Rogerson has reiterated that nothing has been finalised.
Rogerson said: "We have spoken to Bradford but we are not in a position to take things forward at this time. We are still looking at keeping Gareth."
Ellis' contract expires at the end of the 2005 season and the Wildcats would lose him for nothing next autumn if they cannot agree a new deal.
"We are looking at extending Gareth's contract," said Rogerson.
"If a deal did come forward that suited the club and the player then we'll look at it - but at the moment we haven't got a deal on the table that's suitable."
Hull, Leeds, Huddersfield and Warrington have also approached Wakefield regarding the Great Britain international, who has expressed his desire to move to a bigger club.
Super League champions Leeds even agreed a fee with their neighbours but the deal broke down over the player's personal terms.
