Ellis has been a key figure for Great Britain |
Hull have joined Leeds in pulling out of the race to sign Wakefield's Great Britain international Gareth Ellis. Their decision leaves Bradford as the firm favourites to secure the 23-year-old centre or back-row player.
Leeds withdrew last week after Ellis rejected personal terms; Hull have pulled out after failing to agree a player exchange.
"All our efforts are being put into keeping Gareth," said Wakefield chief executive Diane Rogerson.
"We had an offer from Hull but it wouldn't have satisfied the club's needs.
"Bradford still have an interest in Gareth but at present we do not have a firm offer on the table.
"Everyone involved at the Wildcats would love for Gareth to stay at Wakefield we will do all we can to towards retaining our player on a long term contract."
Ellis, who has another 12 months left on his Wakefield contract, has played in all four of Great Britain's matches in the Tri-Nations series.
