Widnes Vikings boss Paul Cullen says he is thrilled with the character shown by side in Thursday's victory over Barrow in the Northern Rail Cup. Winger Dean Gaskell and on-loan hooker Kirk Netherton both scored tries, as Widnes ended a run of four defeats to book their place in the semi-finals. Cullen told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I'm really delighted with the way we've been going. "I'm pleased with the character and I'm certainly pleased with the defence." Cullen added: "It was a very decent performance on the back of a lot of hard work. "It's the best we've been in four games. It's nice to come off here without being booed. "Hopefully we can focus on all the positives, not just the first team who have won, but all the positives that this club is doing behind the scenes."
