Widnes Vikings season dogged by injuries

Widnes Vikings boss Paul Cullen claims the loan signing of half-back Chaz I'Anson underlines the club's crippling injury problems.

I'Anson joins the Vikings on a one month deal from Hull KR, becoming the 34th player used by Widnes this season.

"It's indicative of the problems we've had as a club," Widnes manager Cullen told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"If you want consistent performance by definition you need consistent preparation, we've had anything but."

"We've brought in Chaz I'Anson who will be the 34th player to wear our colours this season which is ridiculous really when you consider that we're not even past the halfway point in this year's campaign."

I'Anson has made several first-team appearances in Super League for the Robins and will join the Vikings as they face the Barrow Raiders in the Northern Rail Cup quarter-final.

"Hopefully Chaz will bring a presence in defence as a half back." Cullen added.

"He's trained with the club already and hopefully we can get the best out of him."
