| | Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs saw off Switzerland's Nicole Schnyder and Simone Kuhn to finish top of Pool D in the women's Olympic beach volleyball. The Americans, who had already booked their place in the quarter-finals, won 2-1 (22-24 21-17 15-12). They will be joined in the next stage of the competition by Canada's Guylaine Dumont and Annie Martin. Dumont and Martin earned second place in the group after beating Norway's Susanne Glesnes and Kathrine Maaseide.
