Opening NHL games hit by weather

Antrim's scheduled NHL game against Westmeath at Casement Park and Down's clash with Laois were among the matches postponed because of snow and frost.

Derry defeated Mayo 0-9 to 0-6 in their opening Division 3A fixture.

Other games to fall victim of the weather included the Allianz Division 3 encounters between Tyrone and Fingal, Donegal v Longford and Meath v Kildare.

In NHL Division 4, the games between Sligo and Monaghan and Cavan v Fermanagh were also postponed.

Derry defeated Mayo 0-9 to 0-6 in their opening Division 3A fixture.

The game between South Down and Laois was switched to Ballymartin and ended in a draw, South Down 2-9 to Leitrim 1-12.

The game of the day in Division 1 between Galway and Kilkenny also fell victim to the weather, as did the Division 2 contest between Offaly and Carlow.

Also postponed was the Leitrim verses Carlow National Football League game scheduled for Carrick-on-Shannon.

All matches in the National Camogie League were postponed.
