Jana Novotna
Jana Novotna is overcome at finally winning the Wimbledon singles title
Novotna finally took the singles title in 1998
Jana Novotna won her first Wimbledon singles title in 1998 at the age of 29.

It was third time lucky for the Czech - she had been defeated in the 1993 final by Steffi Graf after leading her by one set and 4-1.

Martina Hingis then got the better of her in a three-setter four years later.

After her 1998 victory, she then promptly added the Wimbledon doubles crown to her tally, partnered by Hingis.

Jana was an exceptional doubles player, winning all four Grand Slams at least twice.

Her mixed doubles partnership with Jim Pugh also yielded great success, with one Wimbledon, one US Open and two Australian Open titles.
