155 yards, par three

This is the third of the par threes and it has always fascinated me that when there are no spectators, it is completely open.

There are two or three acres of beautifully mown grass. You walk up to this big, elevated tee and you look across this wonderful grass.

The stream is no more than about 15ft wide with a bunker in the far bank. And then there is the green, which is wide but narrow in depth.

They all talk about the swirling winds and how difficult it is to select the right club here. We have seen some dreadful disasters here over the years - Tom Weiskopf took 13 in 1980.

Curtis Strange, when he looked certain to win, once dumped a few in the water, while others have had enormous bits of luck.

I remember Freddie Couples pitching short, but for some reason it stuck and he chipped up and got his par before going on to win the title.

It is a fascinating hole and I think people get a bit afraid because of its history.

Sometimes they would be better off if they just whacked it towards the middle of the green and did not try to be too clever.
