West Brom reveal fears over Gera
Zoltan Gera
Gera wants to play in the Premier League again
West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has admitted midfielder Zoltan Gera is likely to leave if the club fail to win promotion this season.

The 28-year-old's contract expires in the summer and, although he has been in talks, no new deal has been agreed.

"Given that he's in his final year of his contract, he's been tremendous," Peace told BBC WM.

"I wouldn't expect Zoltan to be here next year if we're in the Championship. If we get promoted, I hope he'd stay."

The Baggies' form has dipped recently with only one win in their last five league games.

It is a run that has seen them slip from the top of the Championship into the play-off places.

Peace is still confident over Albion's chances of playing in the Premier League next season but told BBC WM the club will not be financially hit if they fail to win promotion.

"No, it won't be a the end of the world.

"We've tried to run it properly and give the manager the best platform for success which is why we overspent in the summer by about 2m.

"After January that's probably risen to about 6m but we have the impending sale of Curtis Davies to balance that out.

"We would expect to run a similar model next season if we were in the Championship. It's an extremely difficult division to get out of."
