Stoke City's Icelandic owners have agreed in principle to sell the club back to former chairman Peter Coates. Coates had earlier had a bid rejected by the club's controlling company, Stoke Holding SA, but the two parties have now agreed a deal.
A statement on the club's official website read: "It is hoped the deal can be completed in two weeks time.
"At that time all the Icelandic directors will resign and Mr Coates will take full control of the club."
Coates was chairman of the club between 1989 and 1998.
