League One side Southend United have avoided going into administration after promising to pay an outstanding tax bill by Friday.
The club appeared in the High Court on Wednesday, but the case was adjourned after United agreed to pay the £690,000 owed to HM Revenue and Customs.
The Blues also confirmed that their total debt of £2.1m would be cleared.
The case brought against the club by HMRC has been adjourned until Monday pending the debt being settled.
