Scunthorpe United have rejected a written transfer request from leading goalscorer Martin Paterson.

The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international striker scored 14 goals in 2007/08 as the Iron were relegated from the Championship.

Burnley have already had two bids for Paterson turned down.

"Martin Paterson has put in a written transfer request but has been advised that it is turned down," vice-chairman Rex Garton told the club's website.
