Rendell will start next season in League One with Posh (FC Pix)
Peterborough United have completed the permanent signing of Cambridge United striker Scott Rendell.
Rendell, 21, was widely expected to make his February loan move permanent during the close season.
Cambridge manager Jimmy Quinn told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's a deal that the club have done and I know roughly the figures.
"It's a good deal considering we got the lad for nothing and he wasn't on massive wages."
He added: "It's a difficult one, but when bigger clubs come in that have got ambitions and the players find out about it, it becomes very hard to keep them and that was the case with Scott.
"And, while I don't want to be in the habit of selling my best players, it was one of those situations that he felt he couldn't turn down."
Rendell scored 21 goals for the U's this season before the move and added three to his tally at London Road.
