Giggs wants more nights of glory

Ryan Giggs says he is hungry for more success after marking a club record 759 appearances for Manchester United by lifting the Champions League trophy.

The former Wales captain, 34, came off the bench and scored in the 6-5 penalty shootout win over Chelsea in Moscow.

"I want nights like this again," said Giggs, who also won the trophy in 1999.

"I took it in a lot more this time as there won't be too many more of these nights. The challenge for the club and these players is to go on."

He added: "I am enjoying my football more than ever but we will just wait and see what happens. I have another year left on my contract.

"While I don't think I can play all the time, I have managed about 40 games this season.

"That's more than a lot of people and I played about the same number last season.

"All right towards the end of the season I have not been starting games but it is not as if I am playing less and less games.

"We will see next season what happens."

Giggs picked up his 10th Premier League winners' medals earlier this month on the day he equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's appearance record.

And now he has gone one step further setting a new record on the night as United clinched the Premier League and Champions League double.

He has also won the FA Cup four times and League Cup twice.

"Sir Bobby came over and congratulated me on winning the Champions League," said Giggs.

"I think all the players have respect for the history of this club and what it is all about.

"Sir Bobby, quite rightly, is a massive part of that history."

And United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Giggs will play a role for the club next season.

"People like (Paul) Scholes, (Ryan) Giggs and (Gary) Neville know what Man United means," he said.

"Scholes and Giggs will contribute next season, if not in as many games."
