Ipswich Town 'fully committed' to Roy Keane

Ipswich chief executive Simon Clegg has dismissed reports that manager Roy Keane's job is under threat.

Keane took over in April 2009 but Town are 16th in the Championship, nine points clear of relegation and 13 adrift of the last play-off place.

Clegg told the Ipswich Evening Star: "I'm fully committed to Roy Keane. "It's been a disappointing season but Roy is still building his team.

"Roy is just starting out to get us where we want to be."

Following Saturday's 0-0 draw at Swansea, Keane told BBC Suffolk: "I'm very proud to be manager of Ipswich and, please God, that will continue.

"I came down to Ipswich to do a job and I don't think I've really started yet."

Two national newspapers had claimed on Saturday that Ipswich owner Marcus Evans would sack the former Sunderland manager if Town lost to the Swans but there has been further speculation, despite the draw.

Keane was philosophical after the game and added: "Better managers than me have lost their jobs and if the board want to move on then that is the name of the game but I have a wife and five kids and I will be all right."

The Suffolk side play host to Reading in their next fixture on Saturday.
