Brighton manager Dean Wilkins has released 10 players as he prepares to rebuild his squad for next season.

Kerry Mayo, who has been there 12 years, Gary Hart, who recently enjoyed his testimonial, and veteran Guy Butters, 38, have not been retained.

Also moving on are Sam Rents, Shane McFaul, David Martot, and Paul Reid, along with fringe players Sonny Cobbs, Lloyd Skinner and Chris Winterton.

Doug Loft, Scott Chamberlain and John Sullivan are all staying.

Mayo, 30, has played 409 games for the club since coming through the ranks at the Goldstone Ground and signing as a pro by Liam Brady in August 1995.

Hart, 31, was signed for the club by Brian Horton in August 1998 and has gone on to play 378 games in a Seagulls shirt, scoring 46 goals, almost half of which came in his first two seasons with the club.

Butters, who started his pro career at Spurs in August 1998, moved for Portsmouth and Gillingham before being brought to Brighton by Martin Hinshelwood in August 2002.

He played 212 games for the club in a 659-game career that also saw him have loan spells at Southend, Oxford and Barnet.
