Todd is set to manage in Denmark

Former Bradford boss Colin Todd has blamed the club's relegation into League Two on the sale of key players.

Todd parted company with the Bantams in February, leaving the team in 16th position in the table and five points above the relegation zone.

"We lost striker Dean Windass, winger Jermaine Johnson and Nathan Doyle, who was on loan," Todd told BBC Sport.

"Had we kept our best players then the team would not have suffered. We didn't have money for new signings either."

He added: "Results weren't going our way but I reckon I could have turned things around.

"The problem was a few supporters did not like me and voiced their opinions to the chairman. He obviously took note and made the decision."

The 58-year-old, who was replaced by Stuart McCall, is now set to start a new challenge - in Denmark.

"I've taken on the coaching job at Danish first division side Randers FC, " said the former Middlesbrough, Derby, Swindon and Bolton manager.

"They're not as big as the likes of FC Copenhagen, but I'm looking forward to working over there.

"I'd like to manage in England again, but it's hard to get work unless you're a high-profile manager.

"Someone with a good CV recently went for the MK Dons job, but they were told they didn't have the celebrity status of Martin Allen, who left the club for Leicester City. It's just how football is now back home."
