Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has said that his side's achievements on the pitch have been overshadowed by the club's financial problems.

The cash-strapped Lancashire outfit currently lie 14th in League Two, just five points off the play-off places.

Coleman told BBC Radio Lancashire: "The players' achievements seem to have gone under the radar.

"They've rolled their sleeves up and shown the right attitude. I think that's what should make the headlines."

On Wednesday, Stanley were granted more time to pay the outstanding tax bill that threatens the club's future.

Accrington were facing a winding up order, brought by HM Revenue and Customs, over an unpaid sum of £308,000.

But, after the club promised that the remaining £112,000 would be paid within a week, the High Court case was adjourned.

"It is worrying times for everybody, but once matters are resolved permanently I think everybody can start focusing on what we do as a football club," added Coleman.

"We're just trying to prepare to win the game against Grimsby on Friday.

"We try and motivate the players the best we can and I think that's one of our strengths."
