Glentoran's Scott Young is named manager of the month
Scott Young receives the award from Stephen Looney of the NI football writers
Scott Young has been voted Carling manager of the month after Glentoran's unbeaten start to the league campaign.
The Glens beat Lisburn Distillery, Coleraine, Donegal Celtic and Cliftonville and drew away to Newry City during August.
"I am delighted, but really the award goes to the players and the backroom staff for the hard work they have put in," said Young.
"Because of that, we have had such a good start to the season."
Young said that, despite some pre-season pessimism, there was now a real buzz around the Oval.
"I keep referring back to the first press conference I had when I first took over at the club on a temporary basis, and I said then that my number one priority was to bring pride and passion back into the Glentoran shirt," added Young.
"I am sure that if you ask any Glenman they will tell you that the commitment the players have shown so far this season has been superb.
"But it is early in the season and, while it is always nice to get awards, it is the first one this season so we will not be getting carried away.
"Anything can happen in football and there is a long way to go. It is a case of, so far, so good."
