The Crues missed a penalty and had a player sent-off in this Carnegie Premier League defeat at Drumahoe. Philip Lowry blasted into the corner to gave Institute an early lead and David Ogilby's header made it 2-0.
Crusaders striker David Rainey had his penalty saved by Alan Ryan in first-half injury-time but Colin Coates pulled one back on 56 minutes.
Ryan Campbell netted Institute's third after good work from Martin Cutmore before Coates was dismissed late on.
