England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has got every right to feel pleased and can move towards Euro 2004 in positive mood after the draw in Portugal. Eriksson can draw many plus points from the way his team passed and moved and dictated the pattern of play for long periods.
But the big bonus was the performance of Spurs defender Ledley King, who not only delivered an excellent performance at the back but got a goal as well.
It was important King got off to a confident start and he did. He showed strength and determination and kept things simple, which you would expect on an occasion and a game like this.
King took up good positions, got in some good blocks and played it in a no-frills fashion. I thought he was solid, reliable and got on the scoresheet into the bargain.

England also showed they have an embarrassment of riches in central midfield.
Liverpool's Steven Gerrard wasn't available to face Portugal, but the big dilemma for Eriksson is who will play in there and who will play left and right.
David Beckham played part of the game in the middle and started on the right.
He will be hugely influential and there are other talented players in there as well fighting for a place.
There was also good link-up play in attack, where you could see England were trying to play it into feet to make the most of the ability of Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.
And there were occasions when they did it exceptionally well. If you study the overall performance it was mostly good news for Eriksson.
Defensively there were one or two question marks because England kept getting hit on the counter-attack.
But you have to remember that a lot of the big personnel like Sol Campbell, John Terry, Jonathan Woodgate, and of course Rio Ferdinand, were missing.
Campbell will return in the summer, and obviously the question is who will play alongside him - with Chelsea's Terry in pole position I would think.
These are the matters that England still need to resolve - but all-in-all Eriksson will be very pleased and has every right to be.
