Ryan Giggs will captain a near full-strength Wales side |
Ryan Giggs is set to play his first away friendly for Wales after being named in the squad to face a Basque XI and Trinidad and Tobago this month. Giggs is joined by fellow Premiership stars Danny Gabbidon, James Collins and Craig Bellamy in a 23-man squad.
Swansea's Owain Tudur Jones gets his first call-up to the senior squad.
Lewis Price, Richard Duffy, Lewin Nyatanga, Andrew Crofts, Joe Ledley and David Cotterill are also promoted from the Under-21 squad.
All seven have been named in the U21 squad for the first leg of a crucial Uefa Championship qualifier in Estonia on 10 May, but are now set to miss the return leg on 24 May.
Wales will face the Basques at Estadio San Mams, Bilbao, on 20 May, before moving to Austria to face World Cup finalists Trinidad and Tobago at the GAK Stadium, Graz, on 27 May.
Midfielder Jones - set to complete his first season as a professional since his summer move from Welsh Premier side Bangor City - and team-mate Sam Ricketts will miss both games if Swansea reach the League One play-off finals.
And Wales manager John Toshack, who led Swansea to the old Division One, admitted he hopes Jones and Ricketts will not be on the plane to Spain.
He said: "Because of my attachment to Swansea, I really want them to mess up my plans for the national team by qualifying for the play-off final."
Goalkeeper Glyn Garner will also miss the trip if Leyton Orient are involved in the League Two play-off final.
Garner and fellow goalkeeper Jason Brown are the other uncapped played in the squad.
"We have problems in this department," Toshack said.
"Danny Coyne may not be fit even for the start of next season because of his knee problem, and we need to see what other goalkeepers we have around."
Toshack added he was delighted to have Giggs available to captain his young squad.
He said: "I have had a long chat with Ryan. He understands how important these build-up games are us in relation to the European qualifiers next season.
"He has said he is looking forward to the trip."
Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage and Reading midfielder John Oster continue to be overlooked by Toshack.
