Karel Bruckner took the reigns of the Czech Republic side after the failure to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. Previously in charge of the Under-21 side, Bruckner has blended his exciting young players with established stars.
He has brought the best out of a talented squad and led the team on a 20-match unbeaten run until defeat to the Republic of Ireland in March 2004.
Qualification for Euro 2004 was achieved at the expense of perennial favourites Holland.
Bruckner is highly regarded for his tactical ability, demonstrated with Inter Bratislava, Sigma Olomouc and FK Drnovice.
He has brought a superb crop of players up with him from the Under-21s and his team will be dark horses in Portugal this summer.
Did you know? Bruckner was assistant manager at Euro 2000 where the Czech's failed to win a game.
