Who will win Euro 2004?
With so many quality teams competing in Euro 2004 it is difficult to choose a winner.

Here the BBC pundits give their predictions for the tournament.

Gary Lineker - France

I'm tipping France to retain their trophy.

They have the strongest squad, a number of the world's best players and it is hard to see a weakness.

Expect Thierry Henry to finish as the tournament's top scorer and be one of the most influential players along with Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and David Beckham.

I think England's chances depend on how fit and fresh the players are. We do not have the depth of the French, but if we stay fit I would put us on the next group of potential winners after France and Italy.

Alan Hansen - France

If I am pressed and asked to pick a winner, I would go for the world-class quality France possess to give them the trophy again.

This may seem an obvious choice - but history tells us obvious choices are invariably the correct ones when it comes to major championships.

The World Cup in 2002 was regarded as something of a football freak show with a number of the major nations falling by the wayside early on - but it was the old favourites Brazil who won it.

France, the holders from Euro 2000, lead those who can win it and I would bracket Italy, Holland, Spain and England with them.

Mark Lawrenson - France

It may be an obvious choice but I'm going for France.

Quite simply they have the world's best players and I can't see them being surpassed.

They'll be very determined after the disappointments of the 2002 World Cup.

Holland and Italy are potential challengers but not quite the real deal.

John Motson - Holland or Italy

Holland have got the players to do it if they don't self destruct and I think Italy will go very close again.

Obviously most peoples favourites are France - but Spain are playing close to home, and the Czech Republic are a lot of people's dark horses to win.

I honestly think a winner could come from six, possibly seven teams.

I think England have a good chance of going to the quarter finals, maybe further but I think looking at the players on view and the conditions in which the tournament will be played it should be a spectacular event.

Barry Davies - France or Portugal

I think it will be a France against Portugal final, which I guess is a bit of a cop out because France are still one of the strongest teams around and hosts traditionally do well.

But I think it is an open championship and there are a lot of teams who could lift the trophy.

A lot of people think England can win but I reckon anything past the quarter-final would be a bonus, although I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think the balance of the left side is right. I think left-sided players should play on the left side and I would play Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge.

We certainly need Michael Owen to be at his very best because there won't be that many chances and we need someone who can take them.
