Debutant keeper Bertrand Bossu made an amazing late double save to earn league leaders Walsall a point at Chester. The Saddlers were second best for much of the game but nearly opened the scoring when Tony Bedeau headed inches wide from Kris Taylor's cross.
Jon Walters, Dean Keates and Drewe Broughton all went close for Chester.
But the the home side's best chance saw Bossu palm Broughton's close-range shot onto the post and then divert Dean Bennett's follow-up over the bar.
