Southend came from behind to beat Stockport in a dead rubber between two of League One's three relegated teams.
Southend's Alan McCormack had a strike ruled out for offside before Jabo Ibehre put Stockport ahead when he headed in Danny Pilkington's free-kick.
Harry Crawford then got a touch to Danny Swailes' headed clearance to equalise on his full debut.
And McCormack headed into the top right corner from Matt Paterson's cross in the 89th minute to win it.
Steve Tilson, Southend United manager told BBC Essex:
"Going into next year it is nice to have a win, rather than to say we haven't won for 'X amount' of games.
"I'm pleased that we got the result. I thought we deserved it but when we go 1-0 down, being relegated already, we could have folded.
The boys showed a lot of spirit to get back in it. Once we got that first goal momentum was with us and we looked like we would go on and get another one."
Stockport manager Gary Ablett on the proposed takeover of Stockport, told BBC Radio Manchester:
"I can't talk about anything I don't know.
"From conversations I've had with the administrators we've been told that the consortium, until the actually takeover is complete, won't be allowed to speak to anyone.
"Out of the twenty pro's we have I think we've got four who will go back to their parent clubs, and twelve or thirteen who will be out of contract. So we need to try and sort something out."
