All level in political showdown

The Parliamentary club came after an invitation by the Bailiff

Government United drew 2-2 against the UK Parliamentary Club team in a charity match at Footes Lane.

The Guernsey side included a number of States members with Vale poll-topper and youngest member of the new house Matt Fallaize scoring in his debut.

"They're a good side, they had some young guys as well, I think 2-2 was probably a fair result," said Fallaize.

The Parliamentary team have played matches all over the world and were invited by the Bailiff, Geoff Roland.

Money raised from the match went to the Hope for Guernsey Charity.

Before the match the visiting politicians attended the Royal Court to meet the Bailiff and Chief Minister, Deputy Trott, to learn more about the island's constitution and system of government.

The regular States team, made up of politicians and civil servants, which generally plays as Government United, have only ever won one match - defeating the Guernsey Media 3-2 in the annual Boxing Day fixture in 2007.
