Logie felt he did not always have the full support of the WICB |
Gus Logie, the coach who led West Indies to glory in the ICC Champions Trophy in England, has had his contract terminated early by mutual consent. Logie was originally put in charge of the side for two years and the initial deal did not expire until June 2005.
But a new coach will be in place for West Indies' January tour to Australia.
"Interviews are currently ongoing to find a replacement," West Indies Cricket Board spokesman Leonard Robertson told BBC Sport.
Speaking to the Indian website rediff.com in the wake of the Champions Trophy triumph, Logie said: "It is no secret that the West Indies Cricket Board is looking for a foreign coach and they have already spoken to a lot of people.
"Whoever comes in, I hope he gets a lot of support; certainly a lot more than what I was getting.
"We wanted instant results and if you don't get that then the knives are always going to be out for you." Under Logie, West Indies won only four of 22 Tests, but their record in one-day internationals was much better, with 20 wins out of 39.
Robertson gave no specific timeframe for Logie's replacement to be named, but said: "It will be sooner rather than later."
He added: "Logie's contract ended on 30 September. He's no longer with the board."
