Australia pair fined by the ICC

Ricky Ponting has repeated his criticism of England's continued use of substitute fielders in the Ashes series despite his fine in the fourth Test.

The Aussie skipper was docked 75% of his match fee for an angry outburst after he was run out by Gary Pratt.

Ponting later apologised for his actions but stuck to his guns in a fierce attack on England's policy.

"I think it's an absolute disgrace the spirit of the game is being treated like that," he told Australian radio.

"It is within the rules, it's just not within the spirit of the game."

Injured Jones faces anxious wait

Durham's Pratt was on the field to replace the injured bowler Simon Jones, but Ponting feels England have manipulated the current International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations to their own advantage.

Fletcher hits back in fielder row

England's bowlers have regularly left the field for short periods after spells, although coach Duncan Fletcher has insisted the breaks are merely to answer calls of nature.

"Fletcher has known right the way through the summer this is something we haven't been happy with, but it's continued," added Ponting.

"He knows it's something that has got under our skins and I've had enough of it, and I let him know that, and most of his players too."

Simon Katich was also found guilty at an ICC disciplinary hearing and fined 50% of his match fee for showing dissent after wrongly being given out lbw.
