Anderson took 11 wickets in his last County Championship match |
England paceman James Anderson will make his return from injury in Lancashire's County Championship match with Warwickshire. The 27-year-old was named in the Lancashire side for the game at Old Trafford, starting on Thursday. But he will have to wait to bowl and test his long-standing knee injury after Warwickshire won the toss and decided to field. Anderson was rested for England's tour of Bangladesh because of the problem. It is his first four-day match for the county since the opening game of the 2009 season. Anderson was forced to take painkilling injections at the start of England's winter tour to South Africa, during which he took 16 wickets during the drawn four-Test series. He had three more injections during the tour and then took a three-week break, but has admitted that he is still unsure why the joint is sore. Playing for Lancashire will go a long way to proving his fitness for the ICC World Twenty20, which starts at the end of April.
