County Championship D2, Taunton, day two (stumps): Glos 0-0 v Somerset 409Only 29 overs were possible on a wet day in Taunton, but Somerset scraped maximum batting points against Glos, finally bowled out for 409.
Wes Durston's sixth Championship fifty of the season guided his team from their overnight 315-6.
Heavy rain halted play at 1150 but after two inspections the match resumed at 1715, with Somerset losing their final four wickets for 18.
Glos survived a testing Andy Caddick maiden in which Phil Weston was hit.
Durston and young debutant Sam Spurway survived the nine overs before the rain after Glos had immediately taken the new ball.
Left-handed keeper Spurway hit two fours in an over from James Averis and had eight boundaries to his name when he was well caught low down by opposite number Steve Adshead in the closing stages.
Caddick caused problems in the solitary over before stumps, bowled in murky light.
Weston was hit on the shoulder and the acting skipper would no doubt have relished another opportunity to bowl.
