Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut at Lord's last year |
Bangladesh have recalled Mushfiqur Rahim for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday. The 17-year-old batsman made his Test debut for the Tigers in the series against England last year.
He also impressed with his batting and leadership when he led Bangladesh in the recent Under-19 World Cup.
Seamer Mashrafe Mortaza is rested and misses out on a place in the 15-man squad for the series, which begins in Chittagong and concludes in Bogra.
Meanwhile, captain Habibul Bashar revealed that a plan to contain Sri Lanka after winning the toss in the one-day series decider in Chittagong had backfired.
"We were hoping to restrict them to 230 or 240 but they batted really well, especially (Kumar) Sangakkara and (Kaushal) Lokuarachchi," said Bashar.
"We didn't get the early wickets that we had hoped for."
Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene toasted a 2-1 series triumph and said his team had "showed a lot of character."
He added: "We had decided to keep up the run-rate and bat them out of the match."
